Frequently Asked Questions
-
Day and overnight camps are for sports fanatics ages 10-18. Our advanced workshop is for ages 15-25+. We will make exceptions to the age range if necessary.
-
Please bring a pen, notepad, and a hand held recording device like a digital recorder or cell phone. Digital recorders can be purchased at Staples or Amazon for around $25. Most campers bring cameras or cell phones to take pictures with our celebrity guests.
-
We have had many high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have benefited by making professional contacts with our celebrity guest speakers and receiving an opportunity to work with us in our on-air projects during the school year. We have helped older campers land internships at major networks. Many of our former campers since 2002 are working professionally today.
-
All camps share common basic components while field trips and celebrity guest speakers are unique. We are constantly updating camp activities. We have had many campers who have enjoyed excellent yet different experiences in multiple cities. Many campers come to several camps in different cities during one summer as well as attend camp in the same city many years in a row.
-
In most cities (with the exception of Chicago and DC), we eat in the college cafeteria. Most colleges have a selection of hot/cold options and will accommodate all food allergies. In Chicago/DC we will order food from a local restaurant, which usually consist of Pizza (Monday/Friday), Chicken Fingers, Pasta, and Burgers.
-
Overnight campers will have a unique, fun camp bonding experience. Evening activities include attending a Major/Minor League game (if possible), wiffle ball, basketball, sports games, and much more.
-
Camp will begin for both day and overnight campers on Monday at 9am and ends Friday at 3pm. For overnight campers flying in or driving from a distance, you can arrive Sunday night (extra $100 for Sunday night arrival). If Flying, try and make flights arriving after 7pm (Please see below for airport pick up info). If dropping off Sunday night, please arrive between 8-9pm. OUR STAFF WILL NOT BE ARRIVING UNTIL SUNDAY LATE AFTERNOON, SO WE CAN’T ACCOMMODATE EARLY ARRIVALS SUNDAY. Overnight campers arriving Monday morning should report to our meeting room by 9am with all your bags. We will check you into the dorm after camp on Monday. Camp ends at 3pm on Friday. Pick up location for everyone is our meeting room.
-
If you register online, you will receive an automated email with your registration confirmation. If you mail in your registration, we will send you an email confirmation. After that, we will email the camp FAQ in May/June. If for some reason you don’t have the FAQ, please check your spam folder or email info@playbyplaycamps.com and we will resend it. Our camp FAQ email will answer all of your questions including where to go, what to bring, camp times, etc. We will also email you a camp schedule 1 week prior to camp.
-
This is the best time ever for girls to attend to Play By Play Sports Broadcasting Camps! One out of every three sports broadcasting jobs are going to women. The number of girls varies every year in each city and we always have female counselors.
-
Yes. We divide the groups up during interactive activities and TV Studio days. However, when speakers come to the camp, the campers are all together.
-
No. We will provide a list of other campers coming from your area and you can try to make carpool arrangements.
-
We will provide pick up and drop off for overnight campers who are not flying as an "unaccompanied minor." We cannot pick up or drop off unaccompanied minors at the airport. Please be sure that you choose an airline where your child can fly alone without any restrictions. Depending on the number of campers needing transportation from the airport, we will designate 2-3 pick up times throughout the night. We will try our best to pick everyone up as close to their arrival as possible but your child may have to wait at baggage claim until the next pick up time.

When going on trips, we rent big yellow school buses.
